Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a fixed, square notch buckhorn dovetailed into the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is one piece smooth maple, capped forend, three ramrod pipes, straight grip, straight comb, and crescent brass buttplate. The LOP 13″ and 14″ from triggers to buttplate. There are scratches and compression dents throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi bright. The rifling is well defined. There is light fouling and storage dust throughout. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 10% of its original finish. The majority of the finish has worn to antiqued gray/brown patina. There are scratches and nicks scattered throughout. There is some light corrosion staining. The screw heads are lightly tooled but serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: This rifle is not in functional condition. The hammer does not hold full or half cock. The flint does spark. The touch hole is clear. The set triggers function as intended. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used guns a full cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.

Our Assessment: This custom Pennsylvania Long Rifle is a traditional-style flintlock muzzleloader chambered in .45 caliber and fitted with a Douglas barrel with a 1:66″ twist, making it well suited to round-ball black powder use once repaired. Built circa the 1960s–1980s, it has a classic longrifle profile with a 43″ barrel, full-length smooth maple stock, capped forend, three ramrod pipes, straight grip, straight comb, crescent brass buttplate, and double set triggers. The fixed buckhorn rear sight and dovetailed blade front sight provide a period-appropriate sighting arrangement, while the long barrel and maple stock give the rifle strong traditional Pennsylvania styling.
Condition is visually appealing despite finish wear, with the rifle retaining about 10% of its original browned finish. Most of the metal has aged to an antiqued gray/brown patina, with scattered scratches, nicks, and light corrosion staining throughout. The screw heads are lightly tooled but serviceable, and the markings remain clear. The one-piece maple stock is a strong feature, rating Very Good overall, with scratches and compression dents from handling but no chips or cracks. Overall, the rifle presents well as a custom longrifle with honest age and attractive traditional character.
The bore is semi-bright with well-defined rifling and only light fouling and storage dust, rating 8/10 in this writer’s opinion. Mechanically, however, the rifle is not currently functional, as the hammer does not hold at either full or half cock. The flint does spark, the touch hole is clear, and the set triggers function as intended, which gives the rifle good repair potential. The rifle has not been test fired and should be inspected and repaired by a qualified muzzleloader gunsmith before use. Overall, this is an attractive custom Pennsylvania flintlock with a good Douglas barrel, solid stock, and strong display appeal, but it should be considered a project rifle until the lock issue is corrected.
