Markings: The bottom of the barrel is marked “Cal 44 Black Powder Only-A. Uberti Italy”. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel assembly and frame.

Barrel Length: 8″ 

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass blade fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a v-notch in the hammer and is visible when cocked.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one piece cast Tiffany style Army Heirloom brass. There is light handling wear. There is light tarnish on the lower left side. Overall this grip is in Very Good to Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10. 

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its original finish. There is light handling wear. There are light scratches throughout. There is a light amount of tarnish on the brass. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this revolver is in Very Good to Excellent condition.

Mechanics: This revolver is in functional condition. The timing is good. The cylinder stop locks up tight. As with all used guns a full cleaning may be required to meet your standards.

Our Assessment: The Uberti Colt 1860 Army is a modern reproduction of one of the most recognizable percussion revolvers of the Civil War era, a design known for its streamlined profile and effective .44 caliber performance. Uberti has long been regarded for producing faithful reproductions of Colt patterns, and this example builds on that foundation with extensive custom engraving and decorative finishes. The addition of gold and nickel plating, along with the distinctive Tiffany-style brass grip, elevates this revolver from a standard reproduction into a presentation-oriented piece that emphasizes visual impact while maintaining the classic 1860 Army form.

Chambered in .44 caliber black powder, this revolver follows the traditional six-shot percussion configuration with an 8″ barrel, providing a long sight radius and balanced handling consistent with the original design. The open-top frame and simple sighting system, consisting of a brass front blade and hammer-notch rear, remain true to period function. The combination of engraved surfaces and mixed metal finishes adds depth and contrast to the revolver’s appearance, while the Tiffany-style grip introduces a unique aesthetic element not found on standard military-pattern examples.

This example presents in very good to excellent condition, retaining approximately 97% of its original finish with light handling wear and minor surface marks. The gold and nickel finishes remain well preserved, while the brass components show light tarnish consistent with age and handling. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, and the action functions correctly with good timing and tight lockup. The custom grip remains in strong condition with only minor wear. Accompanied by a display box and accessories including a flask, cap tin, bullet mold, and tool, this revolver represents a visually distinctive and well-maintained custom interpretation of the 1860 Army pattern.
