Caliber: .38 Special
Action Type: Single Action/Double Action with Swing Out Cylinder
Barrel Length: 4”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square-notch integral to the topstrap. The edges of the groove in the topstrap are serrated for glare reduction.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered walnut panels with silver-colored Colt medallions at their tops. The inside of each panel is stamped “341381” (not matching the frame). The grips have even handling wear with some light nicks, scuffs and scratches. There is more notable wear at the bottom edge of the left panel. The checkering is generally well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition as not original to the gun.
Type of Finish: Parkerized
Finish Originality: Refinished, the barrel and cylinder are most likely not original to the frame. There are no British proof/inspection marks on the cylinder or barrel.
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 87% of its current metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. The grip areas have light handling wear. There are infrequent spots of minor surface oxidation and some light nicks and scratches. The action shows operational wear including a turn-line on the cylinder and turn-wear on the front face of the cylinder. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Very Good condition as customized.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup is solid on all six chambers, the double action trigger pull is smooth and the single action pull is crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
