The wood shows a few light nicks, scuffs and handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad and 13 7/8” to the wood. The drop at the comb is 1 3/8”. The drop at the heel is 2 1/4”. The cast is neutral. The stocks are in Fine Plus overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue with Gold accents

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright. There is a bit of stubborn fouling in both barrels but no erosion in either bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate a 9 or 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows no notable wear or damage, just a few light handling marks. The high-grade engraving is well-defined. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrel lockup is tight with no play to the receiver. We did not fire this firearm. We have cleaned this firearm and performed a mechanic’s check but expect many will want to clean the firearm again depending on their standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with a CSMC case and the choke tubes/wrench described above.

Our Assessment: Tony Galazan, the founder of Connecticut Shotgun Mfg., is a tireless perfectionist with a passion for making the finest gun possible. It shows in their products such as this Model 21 with its gorgeous walnut stocks, blued finish and precise fitment. These shotguns aren’t just meant to be pretty, though, they’re meant to be fired. Every operation in the production of their guns takes place at their New Britain production facility, giving them control of the quality of every aspect of the gun’s construction. All of CSM’s production crew test-fire their guns during the construction process, ensuring that the gun is fit perfectly, functions flawlessly and the craftsmen have an intimate understanding of how a gun should feel for its user. The CSM Model 21 is based on the Winchester Model 21, itself a deluxe side-by-side shotgun. This one is chambered for 20 gauge and has a 30? vent rib barrel and beautiful scrolled engraving including gold-inlaid hunting dog and bird scenes. With a nice case for transport and function matched only by the beauty of its form, this shotgun will be the pride of any collection and should make for a fine display piece. The hunting dog and bird panels will be the envy of all who see them. Please see our photos and good luck in your bidding!
