Our Assessment: The Woodsman was manufactured between 1915 and 1977 and quickly became a very popular seller for Colt. A John Moses Browning design, the short slide, hammerless mechanism created a firearm which was accurate and easy to shoot. This particular 1st Series Woodsman was manufactured in 1936 and was cared for well. It retains 98% of its original finish and comes with the original box and paperwork. This is a fine example of a 1st Issue Woodsman, which remains one of the most well respected .22 Long Rifle semi-automatic pistols ever made. The condition of the pistol and presence of the original box paperwork make it a VERY desirable item for collectors and shooters alike. This pistol shoots as well as any recently manufactured gun, with the gravitas of being one of the most widely praised Colts ever made.
