Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45”. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT FA MFG CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” The left side of the frame is marked “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871” / “JULY 2, 72 JAN. 19, 75”, and the Colt logo. The left side of the trigger guard is marked with a “VP” proof mark. The bottom of the frame is marked with the serial number. Under the grips are marked with the serial on the left front and back strap. The left and right grip are scribed with the last four of the serial number. The last three numbers of the serial “926”, are marked on the loading gate arm, as well as the face of the cylinder. The rear of the cylinder is marked with “45”.
Barrel Length: 5 1/2″
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade at the muzzle. The rear sight is a ‘U’ notch the length of the top strap. Visible when the hammer is cocked.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a two-piece, black checkered, hard plastic. There is a rampant colt in a circle at the top of the grip, and an eagle with shield at the base. There is light handling wear on the panels. There are no chips or cracks in the grips. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.75/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its finish, with minor handling scratches and scuffs along the metal surfaces. There is some finish wear at the muzzle and the leading edges of the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lockup is tight on all chambers. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Colt Single Action Army is a handsome 3rd Generation example of America’s most iconic revolver, manufactured in 1997 and chambered in the classic .45 Colt cartridge. Introduced in 1873, the Colt SAA became famous as the “Peacemaker” and served with soldiers, lawmen, ranchers, and frontiersmen throughout the late 19th century, later becoming one of the defining symbols of the American West. This example keeps the traditional profile alive with its 5 1/2″ barrel, fixed blade front sight, topstrap rear notch, side-loading gate, and black checkered eagle-and-shield style grips. The original nickel finish gives the revolver a bright, classic presentation, while the numbered cylinder face, loading gate arm, and scribed grip panels add reassuring detail for collectors.
This revolver remains in Excellent overall condition, retaining about 99% of its original nickel finish with only minor handling scratches and scuffs, plus slight finish wear at the muzzle and leading edges of the cylinder. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9.75/10 in this writer’s opinion. The grips are also Excellent, showing only light handling wear and no chips or cracks. Mechanically, the action functions correctly and the cylinder locks up tightly on all chambers.
