Our Assessment:   The Colt Single Action Army is one of the most recognizable revolvers ever produced and has been closely associated with the lawmen, outlaws, and frontier figures of the American West since its introduction in 1873. Chambered in .45 Colt and prized for its rugged single action design, the revolver became the sidearm of choice for many historical figures of the frontier era. During the 1960s, Colt celebrated this legacy by releasing the Lawman Series of commemorative revolvers, each honoring a famous Western lawman whose career helped shape the mythology of the American frontier.

This example is the Pat Garrett Lawman Series commemorative produced in 1968 as a limited run of only 500 revolvers. Pat Garrett is best remembered as the New Mexico sheriff who famously pursued and killed the outlaw Billy the Kid in 1881, making him one of the most well known lawmen of the Old West. These commemorative revolvers were specially finished with gold and nickel plating, Pearl-Lite grips with gold Colt medallions, and special Lawman Series Pat Garrett barrel markings. This revolver is number 10 of the 500 produced, making it an early example from the limited run and especially desirable to collectors.

This revolver remains in about Excellent overall condition and retains approximately 95 percent of its original finish with only light handling or storage wear. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and the mechanics function properly with tight lockup. It is accompanied by its original gold felt lined presentation case, paperwork, and protective cardboard sleeve marked for the Pat Garrett Lawman Series. With its low serial number, limited production, and attractive presentation, this revolver represents a desirable collectible commemorating one of the most famous lawmen of the American frontier.  Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition and good luck with your bids!
