U.S.A.” The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number “PY231312” and a QR Code. The sideplate is marked with a “Rampant Colt” logo.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp blade with an orange insert pinned to the top of the rib. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation that is pinned to the top strap of the frame. The top of the barrel rib and the top strap have a matte finish to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered walnut with Colt medallions. There is light handling wear with dings on some of the checkered peaks. There are a few faint scratches. The rest of the checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. There are some spots of minor fouling in the grooves. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its original finish. The balance of the finish shows light storage and handling wear. There are some light smudges throughout. There is no turn line and no carbon buildup on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lock up has very little play. We have not fired this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment:. The Colt Python is one of the most recognizable and respected double action revolvers ever produced, and its modern reintroduction by Colt’s Manufacturing Company brought this legendary name back with updated engineering and materials. The 2020-era Python maintains the classic appearance that made the original famous, including the full underlug barrel and ventilated rib, while incorporating a redesigned action system for improved durability and consistent performance.
This 6” stainless steel example reflects the balance and shootability that have long defined the Python line. The adjustable rear sight, high-visibility front sight with orange insert, and matte rib all contribute to practical accuracy, making it suitable for both target shooting and recreational use. The action is smooth in both single and double action, with solid lockup and minimal play, characteristics that continue the Python’s reputation for refined handling.
Condition is strong overall, with approximately 97% of the original stainless finish remaining. Light handling marks and minor smudging are present, but there is no turn line on the cylinder, indicating limited use. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, showing only minor fouling. The walnut grips exhibit some light wear but remain structurally sound with clear checkering.
The inclusion of the original factory case and paperwork enhances the overall package, adding value for both collectors and shooters. While modern production, the reintroduced Python has quickly earned its own following, offering a blend of heritage styling and contemporary performance. This example represents a solid opportunity to own a modern iteration of one of Colt’s most iconic revolvers, equally appealing as a shooter or as part of a Colt collection.
