Our Assessment: This Colt Official Police revolver, serial number 687337, was manufactured between 1941 and 1943 and has been fitted with a 2-inch Colt Commando barrel. This particular example could have been used in law enforcement or private wartime service, as indicated by its parkerized finish, commonly applied to military and police contracts during World War II.
Despite some finish wear on the leading edges, a chipped grip panel, and a scratch on the frame, the revolver remains in very good condition. The combination of a short Commando barrel, blued hammer and trigger, and a serrated front sight with yellow paint makes for a practical and functional carry revolver of its time.
This revolver is an excellent addition to any Colt collection, particularly for those interested in WWII-era police and military sidearms. If you’ve ever wanted to shoot a Commando but couldn’t bring yourself to “pull the trigger” now’s your chance. Whether as a collectible or for range use, this Colt Official Police revolver remains a historic and well-made piece of American firearms history. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
