Our Assessment: Colt’s 1911 served the United States military through two World Wars and several other conflicts, is still in use by some units today, and has become popular with law enforcement, competitors, and recreational shooters across the nation. The design has seen some updates over the years, but this is one of the more radical departures. Produced from 2011-2013, the Government Model Double Action had a double-action-only trigger mechanism. The model was not commercially successful, some sources put production as low as 300 units. While not a commercial success, this does make it a nice find for the Colt collector that has to have them all. This example is in Excellent condition, appearing to have seen more time in its case than out. For the Colt completionist, this would be a good pony to add to the stable.
