Sights/Optics: The front sight is a Novak Trijicon blade dove-tailed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is an adjustable Novak Trijicon square notch dove-tailed to the slide. The front and rear sights have tritium vials with white outlines.
Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “COLT” and “M45A1” separated by three stars. The right side of the slide is marked with “COLT GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”, the serial number, QR code, “(17V)13629” / “(1P)M1070CQBP” / “(S)14748EGA” and “U.S.”. The top of the barrel is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO N.M.”.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two piece textured and scalloped grey G10 panels. There are virtually no handling marks. The texturing remains sharp. There are no cracks or chips. There is a lanyard loop on the butt of the frame. Overall the grips are in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Two-tone Cerakote
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates a 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its finish. There is no obvious handling wear, with the exception of the trigger showing minor operational use. The screw heads are sharp. The back strap serrations and checkered front strap are sharp and well defined. Overall, this pistol rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Colt M45A1 Close Quarters Battle Pistol was developed as a modernized evolution of the legendary M1911 platform for use by the United States Marine Corps, intended to provide an updated fighting pistol while retaining the proven ergonomics and stopping power of the traditional .45 ACP Government Model. Produced through Colt’s Custom Shop, the M45A1 incorporated numerous contemporary enhancements including a rail-equipped frame, dual recoil spring system, Novak Trijicon night sights, aggressive grip texturing, and durable Cerakote finish treatments designed for hard military service. Chambered in .45 ACP, the cartridge that has accompanied the 1911 platform through more than a century of American military history, the M45A1 stands as one of the final major military evolutions of John Moses Browning’s iconic sidearm before the widespread transition to modern polymer-framed service pistols.
This example remains in excellent condition with virtually complete original finish retention and only minimal operational evidence visible on the trigger. The two-tone Cerakote finish, checkered front strap, serrated backstrap, and grey G10 grips give the pistol the purposeful appearance associated with modern combat-oriented 1911 variants. The tritium Novak sights provide low-light capability, and the National Match barrel further reflects the premium Custom Shop pedigree of the pistol. Accompanied by its serial-matching Colt case, magazines, paperwork, and factory accessories, this M45A1 represents one of Colt’s most desirable modern production Government Models, combining proven 1911 performance with the styling and features associated with the USMC’s Close Quarters Battle Pistol program.
