Sights / Optics: The front sight is a metal blade with a white dot fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is a flat top square notch dove-tailed to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth ivory. There are minor handling scratches and scuffs. There is a very minor chip in the top of the left panel. There are no cracks. Overall, the grips are in Fine-Excellent condition. The spare grips are two-piece checkered rosewood with silver Rampant Colt medallions. There are minor handling marks. The checkering remains sharp and defined. There is a small chip at the top of the left panel. There are no cracks. Overall, these grips rate Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is defined. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun’s stainless finish is bright. There are scratches and scuffs across the surfaces. There is operational wear on the hammer face, barrel, and barrel hood. The screw heads are sharp to lightly tool marked. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this gun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is crisp. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Colt Custom Shop ELCEN Government Model is a handsome stainless 1911-pattern pistol chambered in the desirable .38 Super Auto cartridge. The .38 Super has long held a special place in Colt Government Model history, offering higher velocity than the standard .45 ACP and gaining a strong following among competition shooters, collectors, and fans of classic Colt semi-automatics. This example has a clean, understated Custom Shop presentation with bright stainless finish, “COLT CUSTOM” frame marking, 5″ Government Model profile, white-dot front sight, square-notch rear sight, and smooth ivory grips installed. The included checkered rosewood grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions provide a second, more traditional Colt look.
This pistol remains in about Excellent overall condition, with a bright stainless finish showing scratches, scuffs, and light operational wear on the hammer face, barrel, and barrel hood. The bore is bright with defined rifling and no erosion, rating 9.5/10 in this writer’s opinion, and the action functions correctly with a crisp trigger. The installed ivory grips and spare rosewood grips both rate Fine-Excellent, each showing minor handling wear and a small chip noted at the top of the left panel, but no cracks. The two 9-round magazines rate Excellent, and the Colt blue cardboard box, paperwork, chamber flag, and child lock round out the package. With its Colt Custom Shop origin, stainless Government Model configuration, .38 Super chambering, and strong overall condition, this pistol should appeal to Colt collectors, 1911 enthusiasts, and shooters looking for a refined custom-production Colt.
