The crane and crane cut are marked “C61913”. The inside of each grip panel has “913” hand-written in white pencil.

Sights/Optics: The front sight is a serrated, ramped blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch in a “U” channel on top of the frame. The topstrap is serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood with Colt medallions at the top. The grips have light handling wear, most notable toward the bottom-rear of the left panel. The checkering is generally well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good-plus condition.

Type of Finish: Nickel, Nickel-plated Alloy Frame

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright with sharp rifling. There is minor erosion at the muzzle and in the forcing cone. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 7 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The finish is generally strong with some scattered minor scuffing and light handling marks. There is some minor bubbling in the finish on the right of the frame, mostly at the screw and pin holes. There is more notable bubbling on the inside of the trigger guard and on the butt of the frame (concealed with the grip installed). The action shows minor operational wear. The markings are clear. The grip screws are sharp. Overall, this revolver is in Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder produces solid full lockup of all 6 chambers with a smooth double action trigger pull, the single action pull is crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: This revolver comes in a faux-wood two-piece cardboard Colt box with the serial number hand-written on the bottom of the tray portion..

Our Assessment: The Colt Cobra is a lightweight version of the Detective Special, with an alloy frame rather than steel. This is great for concealed carry as the weight won’t pull down your garments quite so much. This example is in Very Good-plus condition with a desirable Nickel finish. This revolver could serve very well for concealed carry, but with the included box, it would make a nice addition to a revolver or Colt collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
