Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “ARIZONA RANGER COMMEMORATIVE”. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG Co. HARTFORD CT, U.S.A.”. The circumference of the cylinder is marked “.22 L.R.” three times. The left side of the trigger guard bow is marked “VP” in a triangle and “A”. The butt has decorative engraving.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a quarter round blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch integral to the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth wood with silver-colored rampant colt medallions at the top. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Blue, Case Color, & Nickel

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a faux-wood cardboard Colt box, an assortment of factory paperwork including a Colt booklet with information about the Arizona Rangers, wood display case with Arizona Ranger badge, and what appears to be the original shipping carton.
Our Assessment: This is a Colt manufactured Frontier Scout commemorating the Arizona Rangers. In 1901, the Arizona Rangers were created to rid the Arizona Territory of outlaws and corruption. At the time, the Territory was very dangerous. The United States Congress had denied the Governor’s application for Arizona to become a State in part because there was no law and order. The Rangers were well-trained, well-equipped, and very effective at apprehending even the most dangerous of outlaws, evolving into one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the country. Modeled after the Texas Rangers, the Arizona Rangers were tasked with hunting down and arresting outlaws in the Territory, especially along the Mexican border. By 1908, most of the outlaws had been arrested, killed, or had fled into Mexico. The Rangers were disbanded for political reasons in 1909. Shortly afterward, Arizona became the 48th state. This revolver is in beautiful condition, appearing to have spent more time in its box than out. It comes with a nice display case, an Arizona Ranger badge (facsimile) and a neat informative booklet about the Rangers. This will make a great addition to any collection, especially if you’re from the Grand Canyon state. Please see our photos and good luck!
