Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade with orange insert pinned to the rib. The rear sight is a white-outlined square notched leaf adjustable for windage and elevation pinned to the frame.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a Hogue Monogrip one-piece pebble-textured black rubber with finger grooves. The grip has minor handling wear with some light scuffing. There are no rips or tears. Overall, the grip is in Fine condition as not original to the gun.

Type of Finish: Stainless Steel

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates about 9 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some scattered light scuffs, small nicks and scratches. Most notable is a small patch of minor erosion on the left of the frame at the front of the trigger guard. The right of the trigger guard has a spot of minor oxidation. The action shows light operational wear including a turn-line on the cylinder. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly and the cylinder lockup has very little play on each chamber. The double action trigger is smooth and the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a blue plastic Colt case with a cardboard sleeve. The ears are missing from the sleeve, there is no label.

Our Assessment: Colt introduced the Anaconda built on a new, heavy “AA” frame to compete with the Ruger Redhawk and S&W Model 29 revolvers. Our impression is that this revolver probably offers a smoother double action pull than the Ruger and is more rugged than the S&W. This revolver is great for hunting using .44 Magnum cartridges and with .44 Special for casual days at the range. This example is in Very Good condition with about 95% of its stainless finish and signs of responsible use. The revolver has been equipped with a Hogue Monogrip. It is equally ready to hit the range or round out a collection of the Seven Serpents. Please see our photos and good luck!
