Action Type: Single Action Revolver with Side Loading Gate Cylinder

Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” The underside of the frame at the grip frame is marked “SA49383”. The left front of the trigger guard is marked with a “VP” in a triangle. The left rear of the trigger guard is marked with a “K”. The left side of each portion of the grip frame is marked “SA49383” under the grip. Each grip itself is marked with the rampant colt  and near the bottom we see the  “American Eagle with shield and E. Pluribus Unum Banner” The inside of each grip panel is marked “COLT’S HTFD. CONN. “ and hand scribed “SA49383” Giving us evidence(if there were any doubt) these are the factory original grips.  The rear face of the installed cylinder is marked “44S”. The rear face of the extra cylinder is “44-40”.  The front face of each cylinder is marked “9383” to show us that this revolver was built with 2 calibers in mind.

Barrel Length: 7 1/2”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a quarter round blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square groove in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are Checkered Black hard plastic Colt Grips with “Rampant Colt” Insignia and “American Eagle with Shield and E. Pluribus Unum Banner” .There is no appreciable wear or damage to the grips. The checkering is sharp. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: The revolver is Factory Blued and Case Hardened with Colt Black Rubber Grips.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no corrosion throughout the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10. This gun seems to be little more than factory fired, in this writer’s opinion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its current metal finish. The Blue and case hardened finish is very strong and deep. There is minimal operation wear along the cylinder.  The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a blue Colt plastic box. The box has some scratches here and there but thankfully the revolver has none.

Our Assessment:  The Single action army is Iconic in itself. Just glance at one and nostalgia drips to your memory hole.
