Caliber: .44 Special. There were only 1,129 .44 Special, 5 ½”, blue SAAs produced by Colt in the 2nd Generation.

Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .44 SPECIAL”. The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line patent dates “PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 / JULY 2. 72 JAN. 19. 75” followed by the Rampant Colt logo. The serial number “23233SA” is marked on the frame and the front of the trigger guard. The markings are crisp and well-defined. All parts are serial number matching including the grips.
Barrel Length: 5 1/2”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade. The rear sight is a square notch milled into the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The revolver has a two-piece checkered grip set. The grip panels fit snugly with no notable cracks or losses. The checkering remains crisp, showing only light handling wear. The grips rate in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. Revolver appears unfired outside of the factory. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its metal finish. The case coloring remains vivid, and the blued surfaces are deep and rich. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear and crisp. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
