Markings: The left side of the slide is marked with the patent dates: “PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902 / DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14, 1911. AUG. 19, 1913” followed by the Colt rampant horse logo and “COLT’S P.T.F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.” The right side of the slide is marked “MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY.” The left side of the frame is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY.” The serial number “No 402392” is stamped on the right side of the frame.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a rounded blade integral to the slide. The rear sight is a U-notch sight dovetailed into the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered double-diamond walnut panels. The checkering remains pronounced, with handling wear evident, including some smoothing of the checkering and minor pressure marks. There are no major cracks or chips. The stocks rate in about Good-Very Good overall condition.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: One 7-round .45 ACP magazine in Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore but there is light stubborn fouling throughout. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition:  This pistol retains about 60% of its original finish. There is notable finish wear along high edges, with general thinning on the slide and frame. There are scattered small nicks, scratches, and handling marks throughout. The grip safety and mainspring housing show additional patina and wear. The screw heads are lightly tooled but remain serviceable. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this pistol rates in about Good-Very Good condition

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide locks back properly on an empty magazine, and the safeties engage correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories:  This pistol comes with a WWI-era U.S. leather flap holster, canvas double magazine pouch, canvas U.S. marked belt, and canvas U.S. marked canteen.
