Sights/Optics: The front sight is a metal blade screwed to the slide. The rear sight is a Bo-Mar flat top square notch, dovetailed to the slide that is adjustable for elevation and windage. The top of the slide has a matte finish for glare reduction.
Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SPECIAL COMBAT” / “-GOVERNMENT-“. The right side of the slide is marked “COMBAT GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The right side of the frame is marked ‘COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” and the serial number. The top of the barrel is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO-“.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are a two piece checkered dark stained walnut with silver Rampant Colt medallions. There is little to no handling wear. The checkering remains sharp and defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates a 9.75/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its chrome finish. There is minor handling wear throughout. There is light operational wear along the bottom of the slide. There are some maintenance scratches near the takedown pin. The screw heads are sharp. The pistol also had a skeletonized trigger, beveled magwell, and a flared/lowered ejection port. Overall, this pistol rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The ambidextrous safety works as designed. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Colt Special Combat Government Model is a high-grade, performance-oriented 1911-pattern pistol chambered in classic .45 ACP and manufactured in 1993. The Special Combat line represents Colt’s effort to offer an enhanced Government Model with features suited to serious target, competition, and defensive use while retaining the traditional 5″ single-action 1911 foundation. This example has a striking original chrome finish, Bo-Mar adjustable rear sight, screw-secured front sight, matte-topped slide for glare reduction, skeletonized trigger, beveled magazine well, flared and lowered ejection port, ambidextrous safety, and checkered walnut grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions. The result is a refined Colt 1911 with both collector appeal and practical upgraded features.
This pistol remains in Excellent overall condition, retaining about 99% of its original chrome finish with only minor handling wear, light operational wear along the bottom of the slide, and some maintenance scratches near the takedown pin. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9.75/10 in this writer’s opinion. The grips are also Excellent, showing little to no handling wear with sharp checkering and no chips or cracks. Mechanically, the action functions correctly, and the ambidextrous safety works as designed. The included serial-matching Colt factory white box, Colt blue cardboard box, paperwork, and two Excellent-condition 7-round magazines add strong value to the package. This Special Combat Government Model should appeal to Colt collectors, 1911 enthusiasts, and shooters looking for a premium factory-enhanced Colt with excellent condition and a distinctive chrome presentation.
