Sights/Optics: The front sight is a metal blade fixed to the slide. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the slide.
Markings: The left side of the slide is engraved “TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER
” / “1921-100TH ANNIVERSARY-2021”. The right side of the slide is engraved “PEACE VICTORY VALOR” and The Rampant Colt logo. The top of the slide is engraved with an image of a Sentinel guarding the Tomb, as well as an inscription “HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER. KNOWN BUT TO GOD”.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two piece smooth walnut with a gold Sentinel medallion on each. There are little to no handling marks on the panels. The spare grip panels are two piece checkered rosewood. There are little to no handling marks on the spare panels. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is some stubborn fouling in the bore. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates a 9/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its original finish, with only minor handling marks. There is some clouding of the finish on the slide. The barrel and hood shows very minor operational wear. The screws are sharp. The markings and engravings are clear, sharp, and legible. Overall, this pistol rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Colt Classic Government Series 70 Tomb of the Unknown Soldier TALO is a dignified commemorative 1911 produced for the 1921–2021 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Chambered in classic .45 ACP and built on the full-size 5″ Government Model platform, it features a National Match barrel, blued finish, fixed sights, and extensive commemorative engraving. The smooth walnut grips with gold Sentinel medallions complete the presentation, giving the pistol a solemn and highly collectible character.
This pistol remains in Excellent overall condition, retaining about 99% of its original finish with only minor handling marks, some clouding on the slide, and very light operational wear on the barrel and hood. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, some stubborn fouling, and no erosion, rating 9/10 in this writer’s opinion. The markings and engravings remain clear, sharp, and legible, the screws are sharp, and the action functions correctly.
