Our Assessment: Colt Gold Cup National Match pistols were the benchmark standard for a .45 Auto target pistol for decades. With hand-fitted parts, match grade barrels and bushings, adjustable target sights and a wider trigger adjustable for over-travel, they came from Colt’s factory with upgrades you could spend more than the price of the pistol to have done by a gunsmith on a standard 1911. This example is the Gold Cup National Match Super Elite, part of the Elite Gold Cup series, a special edition contracted by AcuSport in the 1980s. The Elite pistols were produced in .45, 9mm and .38 Super, with limited production. We have not been able to confirm how many Super Elites were produced, but it is unlikely to be more than 1,000. This example is in Excellent condition with it’s original box and factory paperwork, perfect for the Colt collector. If the collectors get outbid, this pistol promises to be one heck of a shooter. Just look at the included target. Please see our photos and good luck!
