Our Assessment: The Redhawk was Ruger’s first large bore double action revolver and was available in several barrel lengths and chambered for an assortment of powerful cartridges such as .357 and .44 Magnum. Like the Security-Six before it, the Redhawk was designed by Harry Sefried as a part of their “6” line of guns (Security, Service, Speed, etc.) The Redhawk is a wrist-breaker, truly a beastly thrill to shoot, but as a tool, it’s best utilized when on the hunt should you run into a predator yourself. This example has been customized to fire the thicker-walled .45 Winchester Magnum cartridge, a lesser known round that was brought to market by Winchester in the late 70s. Handgun hunters are fond of it, and it being combined with Ruger’s beefy Redhawk is a real nifty and unusual example. It is in overall Fine-to-Excellent condition with minimal wear and beautiful wood grips. Good luck and happy bidding!
