Our Assessment: The Colt 1860 Army was the primary sidearm for Union forces during the American Civil War, with over 200,000 produced by the war’s end. Its .44 caliber power, combined with a streamlined design, made it a favored choice among soldiers and officers alike. This revolver, manufactured in 1861, was among the early production models, likely seeing service during the height of the conflict.

With its elegant design, the 1860 Army revolver was considered one of the finest percussion sidearms of its era. It featured a rebated cylinder, a distinctive creeping loading lever, and a lightweight yet powerful frame. Many of these revolvers remained in service well after the war, used by settlers, lawmen, and frontiersmen during the westward expansion of the United States.

This example is a true piece of American history and would be a fantastic addition to any collection. Whether you are a historian, a collector of antique firearms, or a Civil War enthusiast, this Colt 1860 Army is a must-have. Please see our high-quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
