Our Assessment: The Armi Sport Cimarron Sharps Saddle Ring Carbine chambered in .50-70 Government is a faithful reproduction of the classic Sharps carbine, widely known for its use on the American frontier and during the Indian Wars. With its 22-inch round barrel, this carbine is compact and maneuverable, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a historically inspired rifle for hunting or target shooting. The .50-70 Government cartridge, introduced in 1866, is a powerful round capable of handling medium to large game, and its use in this carbine evokes the rugged practicality of the 19th-century plains.
The carbine features smooth walnut furniture with a straight-hand grip stock, reflecting the straightforward yet elegant design of the original Sharps carbines. The addition of a saddle ring is a nod to its cavalry roots, allowing it to be easily carried on horseback. The single trigger provides a clean and consistent pull, suitable for practical shooting. The Marbles adjustable tang sight enhances its accuracy potential, offering a blend of period-correct aesthetics and modern functionality. This rifle is ideal for enthusiasts of historical firearms, offering a piece that balances authenticity, usability, and the nostalgia of the Old West.
