Our Assessment: The Warsaw Pact birthed many things. Like a mother ready to burst with quadruplets, the Warsaw Pact would birth a new age tension between the free world and communism known as the Cold War which gave way to many technological advances in the effort to one up the other guy. One of the many children born out of this Pact was none other than this VZ.58. Czechoslovakia sought to upgrade their military with automatic rifles from their previous bolt action and very recent semi auto rifles, the VZ53. Most Soviet influenced countries “decided” (nothing is decided in communist countries) that they would follow the classic AK47 design. One exception, however, was the Czechs. For some odd reason they created their fully auto rifles with a completely different design. It might fool you, but the VZ58 has no pieces that will fit with a classic AK47 or AKM design. The unique design gives this rifle all the more rarity in the world of firearms because there is nothing like it out there. The VZ58 introduced many advantages over the AK like the unique magazine bolt hold open system, the significantly lighter weight, and the bolt lock system integrated into the BCG. If you are a collector of vintage rifles, a war collector, or just a gun enthusiast, then don’t pass on this VZ.58 type rifle. Century Arms brings us the VZ2008 Sporter, a modern rendition of the classic rifle, true to its roots with iconic impregnated bakelite furniture used from original rifle kits from Czechoslovakia. This rifle is almost new in box so please see our photos and description below and good luck on your bid!
