Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its current metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in Excellent condition as customized.
Mechanics: The action functions properly. The hammer has four clicks. The cylinder locks up with minor play on each chamber. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: Colt’s Single Action Army is, perhaps more than any other, an iconic American pistol. It was the U.S. issue sidearm for the last two decades of the 19th century, used by pioneers, outlaws and lawmen across the expanding nation, and captivated audiences on the silver screen and television. In addition to the revolvers made by Colt, the design has been reproduced by a number of other companies, most notably in Italy by the company of Aldo Uberti.
This revolver is a custom Single Action Army which has been adorned with beautiful cattle brand engraving and given a new nickel and gold finish with fire-blue trim and a horn grip, giving it a striking appearance. The frame appears to be of Italian manufacture, having a coil hand spring held in place by the brass grip frame, but having been given a rampant colt and Colt patent dates on the left flat. The barrel appears to be a Colt part, marked “38 COLT.” while the Colt cylinder is chambered for .38 Special cartridges. This is a beautiful and unique revolver perfect for display in any collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
