Our Assessment: The Century Arms L1A1 is a semi-automatic rifle that is based on the British L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), which was the standard infantry rifle of the British Armed Forces from 1954 to 1985. The L1A1 was also used by many other countries, including Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The Century Arms L1A1 is a civilian version of the military rifle that has been imported into the United States from various countries. The rifle is a popular choice for collectors and shooters interested in the history and design of the original L1A1 which was modeled after the FN FAL which became the Right Arm of the Free World.
Hefty and just a little quirky thanks to its thumbhole stock, this semi-automatic L1A1 offers some challenges as well as entertainment. Take it upon yourself to add a FAL-based gun to your collection and tame it. Thanks to its age and wear, this rifle might give you some headaches, but the payoff as a fun range gun makes the CAI L1A1 rifle a must have.
