Markings: Left side of receiver marked “UE 57 A1011”. Safety selector switch has “S” and “R” around it. Left side of bolt carrier is marked “960-2302D36” and bottom of the bolt is marked “UBA11688”. Right side of the receiver marked “L1A1 Sporter Cal .308 CAI – St Alb VT”. Right side of the magazine well is marked “100056” and the buttstock is marked “BELLACARLSON.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an adjustable post and the rear is a peep sight that is adjustable.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The synthetic thumbhole stock is in Good condition with very few scuffs. There is visible wear on the bottom of the forestock cap, trigger guard, and carry handle. The LOP measures 15” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttstock. The stock rates in about Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 93% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some wear. The screw heads are sharp and pinheads unmarred. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment:  Hefty and just a little quirky thanks to its thumbhole stock, this semi-automatic L1A1 offers some challenges as well as entertainment. Take it upon yourself to add a FAL-based gun to your collection and tame it. Thanks to its age and wear, this rifle might give you some headaches, but the payoff as a fun range gun makes the CAI L1A1 rifle a must have.
