Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a gold bead, mounted to the slide. The rear sight is a NOVAK square notch dovetailed into the slide. The top of the slide is finely serrated between the sights to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece White American Holly panels secured by black hex-head screws. The panels show light handling wear with attractive natural color variation. There are no chips or cracks. The front strap and mainspring housing are finely checkered. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition. Comes with an extra set of grips.
Type of Finish: Cabot’s proprietary hardening and thermochemical Vintage Classic treatment.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains approximately 98% of its original finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational and handling wear. The barrel shows normal operational wear from cycling. There is no notable corrosion or pitting. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions properly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with its serial-matched Cabot Guns outer box, carbon-fiber-pattern Cabot presentation case, owner’s manual, red pistol sock, Cabot Guns cloth, Master Lock with keys, two magazines, an additional pair of smooth light-colored grip panels, and assorted small parts and hardware.
Our Assessment: Cabot Guns introduced the Vintage Classic line in 2016 as a premium interpretation of the traditional 1911, combining classic styling with the company’s billet-steel manufacturing and precision-fitting methods. The Vintage Classic is built from 416 stainless billet and receives Cabot’s proprietary hardening and thermochemical treatment, producing the deliberately aged, warm-toned appearance that distinguishes the model. In Commander configuration, the pistol uses a 4.25″ hand-fit match barrel, Cabot’s Full-Cycle Technology, 24 LPI Rhombus checkering, full-length anti-glare slide-top serrations, and a gold-bead front sight, blending traditional 1911 ergonomics with Cabot’s distinctive machining and finishing methods.
This example, serial number CGC0596, remains in Excellent condition with approximately 98% of its original proprietary Vintage Classic finish remaining and only light operational and handling wear. Its White American Holly grips are particularly appropriate to the model, having been offered by Cabot as an alternative to walnut and giving the pistol an ivory-like appearance without departing from its factory configuration. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 9/10, the action functions properly, and the pistol is accompanied by its serial-matched outer box, Cabot presentation case, two magazines, additional grips, manual, pistol sock, cloth, lock, and accessories. With its distinctive factory-aged finish, premium Cabot construction, desirable Commander proportions, and extensive accompanying package, this is an especially complete example of one of Cabot’s most recognizable early production 1911 designs.
