Markings: The top of the barrel at the front of the forend is marked “Old Reliable”. The top of the barrel is also marked “C. SHARPS ARMS CO. INC. / BIG TIMBER, MONTANA, U.S.A.” and near the receiver with ”CAL. 45  24/10”. The top of the receiver is marked “CSA CO. INC. 85-014”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “5 ½”. The tang sight is marked “C. SHARPS ARMS CO. INC.” on the base and “C.S.A” on the staff.

Barrel Length: 34” Heavy profile octagon barrel. This rifle Weighs just shy of 15 lbs.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a globe sight with a circle post insert and a spirit level. There is no cut or dovetail for a rear sight. The tang sight is a C. Sharps Vernier style tang sight with windage adjustment, a mid range staff, and a medium sized eye disc.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The furniture is a two piece checkered, fancy walnut furniture set. The forend is a rounded profile, silver tip Hartford style forend. The stock is a straight hand, straight comb stock with a finely checkered metal buttplate. The LOP is 13.5 from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The forend wood shows minimal handling wear with a few minor marks. The silver tip shows surface lines in the finish typical for this type of tip. There are no chips or cracks. The stock shows the usual mark on the comb from the eye disc of the tang sight, and minimal handling wear with a few scattered very minor lines, and scratches mostly on the belly of the stock. The metal buttplate shows no wear or damage. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the furniture on this rifle is in Very Good + to Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, hammer, trigger, buttplate and lever are silver (French Gray).

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. This rifle appears unfired. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The metal surfaces of the rifle show essentially no marks or damage that this writer could find. There is some old oil in the receiver that should be very easy to clean off. Overall this rifle is in Excellent to Like New condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
