Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There are some light scratches on the barrel, most clustered around the front sight block. There is light scuffing along each side of the round portion of the barrel. The receiver retains strong case color. There are light nicks along the side of the hammer. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: An Action brand slip-on buttpad is included.

Our Assessment: Christian Sharps introduced one of America’s first and most successful breech-loading rifles with design starting in 1850 and improvements continuing into the 1870s and the metallic cartridge era. This rifle is a very high quality reproduction of the 1875 Rifle model, a rifle which was purpose-built for use with metallic cartridges, rather than built off the earlier percussion frame. This example is chambered for the venerable .38-55 Winchester cartridge and shows signs of limited use. It should make for a great shooter for the lucky winner or a great addition to a Sharps collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
