Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING MODEL 1885 CALIBER .30-06 ONLY.” The right side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. / MADE IN JAPAN.” The receiver is marked with the serial number “01461PN247” on the right side.

Sights / Optics: The rifle is fitted with a Leupold VX-1 4-12×40 scope with a duplex reticle. The glass is clear, and the external finish shows minimal handling wear.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle features a high-gloss walnut stock and schnable forend, straight grip, fluted straight comb,and rubber buttpad with fine checkering on the grip and forearm. There are minor handling marks but no cracks or major blemishes. The LOP measures 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the factory recoil pad. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is light visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minor handling marks and light edge wear. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are unmarred. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
