Our Assessment: The Browning Arms Company B-S/S is a highly regarded side-by-side shotgun introduced in the early 1970s and manufactured by Miroku Corporation for Browning. Known for excellent fit and finish, durable lockup, and strong mechanical design, the B-S/S became one of the better production side-by-side shotguns of its era. Chambered in 12 gauge for both 2 3/4″ and 3″ shells, the platform was designed as a versatile sporting shotgun with modern features such as mechanical triggers and ejectors.
This example has been modified with cut-down 18.25″ barrels, resulting in a compact side-by-side configuration with fixed cylinder bores. The shotgun presents in Fine overall condition, retaining a high percentage of its original finish with only light handling wear visible. The walnut stock set remains in Excellent condition with sharp checkering and minimal wear. Both bores are bright with no noted erosion, and the action functions correctly. The shortened barrels substantially alter the shotgun’s original sporting configuration, giving it a handier profile while retaining the robust mechanical quality associated with the B-S/S line. Altogether, this Browning B-S/S stands as a mechanically solid and visually distinctive example of a Japanese-made sporting shotgun with notable modifications.
