Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked, “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH and MONTREAL P.Q. MADE IN JAPAN/MIROKU”. The right side of the barrel “Invenctor BPS Special Steel, .410 Bore, 2 1/2″ and 3″, Field Model 26”. The serial number is marked on the right side of the receiver.

Choke: Threaded for Invector chokes. There is a Diamond Grade Light Modified tube installed. There is a standard Full choke and wrench included.
Sights / Optics: The barrel rib has a fixed silver bead. The barrel rib is checkered to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a two piece checkered walnut, semi pistol grip, finger groove forend, straight comb, and hard plastic Browning buttplate. The LOP is 14 1/4″ from trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are scratches and compression dents throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no visible erosion. There is some stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its original finish. There are a few light scratches and handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this shotgun is in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Browning BPS Field Model is a refined pump action shotgun known for its bottom-ejecting design, which provides ambidextrous operation and helps keep debris out of the action. Manufactured by Miroku in Japan, the BPS has earned a reputation for solid construction, smooth cycling, and high-quality fit and finish. Chambered in .410 bore with a 3″ chamber, this configuration is well suited for small game and field use, offering light recoil and precise shot placement in a lightweight, well-balanced platform.
This example retains approximately 97% of its original blued finish, showing only light handling marks and minor scratches. The checkered walnut stock is in Very Good condition, with scattered compression dents and light wear but no cracks or structural issues. The 26″ vent rib barrel is fitted with a silver bead front sight and includes both a Diamond Grade Light Modified choke and an additional Full choke with wrench, providing flexibility in shot pattern. The bore is bright with no erosion and only stubborn fouling present, rating 9 out of 10.
Mechanically, the shotgun functions correctly with the smooth, reliable operation expected of the BPS platform. The bottom ejection system and robust construction contribute to its reputation as a dependable field shotgun.
