Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN UTAH & MONTREAL PQ / MADE IN BELGIUM ASSEMBLED IN PORTUGAL” The left side of the receiver is marked “BROWNING BAR II SAFARI / 107NV38468” The right side of the barrel is marked “PAT 5279200 BAR MARK II CALIBER .338 WIN MAG ONLY” The right side of the receiver is marked “SAFARI”.

Barrel Length: 24” 26 ½” with adjustable muzzle brake.

Sights / Optics: <Mounted to the top of the receiver is a Leupold scope mount with two 1” scope ring mounts.

Stock Configuration & Condition: Fluted straight comb walnut stock, checkered semi pistol grip, checkered wood forend, and rubber buttpad. 2 sling loops, 1 in the belly of the buttstock, and 1 mounted to the bottom of the forend. There are  light scratches on the buttstock and forend.There are no cracks or chips. The LOP is 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock rates in Excellent Condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the barrel. There is some fouling in the rifling. The bore rates 9/10

Overall Condition:  This Rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are very faint scratches on the barrel The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

The Browning BAR sporting version is certainly a distinct and separate rifle from the military BAR M1918, but its design is the result of the understanding and expertise that started with John M. Browning. His grandson, Bruce Browning, was the driving force behind today’s BAR. A large team of automatic firearms experts at the FN factory in Belgium also played a key role in its development. This group of designers, lead by Marcel Olinger, began serious work on the project code named “Carbine 66,” with full-scale development and testing done throughout 1966 in preparation for an official 1967 product launch. Both the history and the efficiency of this amazing rifle is unequaled among autoloading rifles.
