Our Assessment: The Browning Auto-5 Magnum is a legendary semi-automatic shotgun, known for its robust long-recoil action and distinctive humpback receiver. This example was manufactured in Belgium and chambered for powerful 3” 12-gauge magnum shells, making it well-suited for hunting waterfowl and other game requiring heavy loads.

Designed by John Moses Browning, the Auto-5 was the first mass-produced semi-automatic shotgun, setting the standard for all that followed. The Magnum variant, introduced to handle heavier loads, remains a favorite among enthusiasts and collectors alike, offering a balance of power and reliability.

This particular example, with its full choke 32” barrel, is ideal for long-range shooting and exhibits solid mechanics with an attractive patina from use. A great addition for any Browning collector or an excellent field gun for those who appreciate the history and engineering of a classic autoloader.
