Our Assessment: The Beretta 1984 model S 682 Skeet is a classic over-and-under shotgun known for its precision and craftsmanship, highly regarded among competitive skeet shooters. The 28″ ported barrels help reduce recoil and muzzle rise, allowing for quicker follow-up shots, which is crucial in fast-paced skeet and sporting clays shooting. The porting also helps dissipate gasses, contributing to a smoother shooting experience. The S 682’s robust design and balance make it an enduring favorite, with the 1984 model being particularly valued for its blend of traditional craftsmanship and shooting performance. The modification to accommodate Briley thin wall chokes enhances the versatility of this shotgun. Briley chokes are renowned for their high-quality construction and precise shot pattern control. The thin wall design allows for a lightweight, non-invasive fit, preserving the natural handling characteristics of the shotgun while giving the shooter the ability to adjust for varying distances and target presentations. This setup makes the Beretta 682 even more effective on the skeet and sporting clays range, giving the shooter an edge with customizable choke options tailored to different conditions.
