Choke: The barrels are cut for Beretta Optima HP Chokes, currently installed with Carlson’s extended Modified Over Improved Cylinder. Also includes Beretta made Full, Improved Mod, Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Cylinder. 7 chokes total.
Sights / Optics: This shotgun is equipped with a Silver bead front sight and a fully checkered rib to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The wood furniture is a two piece Beretta Walnut stock set. The stock is a checkered semi pistol grip, fluted straight comb stock with micro core butt pad. The forend is a checkered contoured round profile forend. The length of pull is 14.25”, the drop at comb is 1.5” and the drop at heel is 2.25”. The stock has a right handed cast. The shotgun weighs 6lbs 5oz. The butt pad shows very minor wear. The wood shows scattered light surface level lines and small compressions. The top of the comb has some light scratches. The belly has two notable compressions. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the furniture set on this shotgun is in about Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: Blued Barrels with a coin receiver and gold trigger.

Bore Condition: The smooth bores are mirror bright with no erosion or pitting. The forcing cones are very clean. The barrels show some barely visible plastic fouling. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.8/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains approximately 99% of its metal finish. There is some minor wear on the metal that is covered when the shotgun is assembled. Most of the wear is from light responsible use. The trigger shows some finish thinning. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good-Very Good+ condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play. The safety does set automatically after firing. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon III over/under shotgun was manufactured in 2024, chambered in 20 gauge with 3″ chambers and fitted with 26.5″ barrels threaded for Optima Bore HP choke tubes. Built as part of Beretta’s refined 680-series line, the Silver Pigeon III represents a higher-grade field gun with enhanced engraving and upgraded wood while retaining the durability and excellent handling characteristics the series is known for. The balanced 20 gauge platform combined with the shorter barrels makes this shotgun lively in the hands and especially well suited for upland hunting.
The receiver is finished in classic coin with detailed engravings depicting snipe and grouse, giving the shotgun a distinctly upland theme. It also features a gold trigger and very attractive walnut furniture that complements the elegant receiver. The safety automatically resets when the action is opened, a practical feature for field use that helps ensure the shotgun returns to a safe condition between shots. With its fine engraving, quality walnut, and versatile 20 gauge configuration, this 687 Silver Pigeon III is both a beautiful and highly functional sporting shotgun.
