Our Assessment: This Benelli SuperSport is a 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun developed from Benelli’s proven sporting and hunting shotgun designs, with features intended to enhance its performance on the clay range. It has a 28-inch ported barrel with a 3-inch chamber and is threaded for Benelli Crio chokes, allowing the shooter to select the appropriate choke for different target presentations. The Inertia Driven action provides reliable cycling with a straightforward operating system, while the carbon fiber furniture reduces weight and gives the shotgun a distinctive high-tech appearance.
The SuperSport is particularly well suited to sporting clays, where a shotgun may need to transition rapidly between targets moving at different angles and distances. Its lightweight construction makes it quick to handle, while the longer barrel provides a smooth, controlled swing and good sighting plane. The result is a refined semi-automatic that combines Benelli’s established reliability with features specifically intended to give the sporting shooter an advantage on the range.
