Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass bead. The mid bead is a white bead.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece checkered walnut with a push button beaver tail forend, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and vented rubber buttplate. There is light handling wear. There are scratches and compression marks. There is light furniture finish loss. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14” and 13.25″ from the front of the triggers to the back of the buttpad. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright with minor fouling streaks. There is no notable erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bores rates 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows little to no wear. There are light scratches and thinning. There is light thinning on the muzzle. There are scratches down the length of the barrel. The screw heads and pins are undamaged. The markings are crisp. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Charles Daly Model 500 side by side shotgun was manufactured by B.C. Miroku in Japan, a maker well known for producing high quality sporting firearms. During the mid to late twentieth century, Miroku built shotguns for various importers including Charles Daly, combining traditional European styling with modern manufacturing techniques. The Model 500 features a hammerless box lock action with a single selective trigger, offering the convenience of selecting between barrels while maintaining the classic lines of a double gun. Chambered in 12 gauge for 2 3/4 inch shells, the platform is well suited for field use and sporting applications.
This example retains about 99 percent of its original blue finish with only light handling wear, faint scratches, and minor thinning visible at the muzzle and along the barrels. The checkered walnut stock set shows light handling marks, scratches, and minor finish loss but remains free of cracks or chips, rating in Very Good condition overall. The bores are bright with minor fouling streaks and no notable erosion, rating 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly with the single selective trigger operating as intended. Overall, this shotgun presents as a clean example of a Japanese made Charles Daly side by side built by Miroku.
