Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the Cutts Compensator. The rear sight is a notch sight that flips up into a ladder aperture sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The fixed buttstock, pistol grip, and foregrip are walnut wood with smooth surfaces. The receivers are steel. The LOP is 17” from front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. There are a few compression marks. The rear of the grip has some handling wear. The stocks rate in Fine overall condition. The recoil lug in the buttstock has been removed.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. There are minor signs of operation wear. There are a few minor drag lines. Most of the wear is held in the compensator. Overall this rifle rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Our Assessment: The Auto-Ordnance 1927-A1 Thompson is a semi automatic carbine that draws directly from one of the most iconic American firearms of the twentieth century. Originally developed by General John T. Thompson in the years following World War I, the Thompson submachine gun gained prominence during the Prohibition era and later saw extensive military service in World War II. The modern 1927-A1 variant preserves the distinctive profile of the classic “Tommy Gun,” including the finned barrel, Cutts Compensator, and wood furniture, while operating as a closed bolt semi automatic firearm. Produced in Worcester, Massachusetts under the Auto-Ordnance name, these rifles reflect continued interest in the historic Thompson design. Chambered in .45 ACP, introduced in 1905 and closely associated with American military service, the platform delivers a traditional pairing of cartridge and firearm with strong historical ties.
This example retains about 99 percent of its original blued finish, showing only minor operational wear with a few light drag lines and most visible wear concentrated at the compensator. The markings remain clear, and the screw heads are sharp throughout. The walnut stock set is in Fine condition with only minor handling marks and no cracks, though the recoil lug in the buttstock has been removed. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, and the rifle includes a factory case, a 50 round drum magazine, one 20 round box magazine, owner’s manual, and chamber lock with keys.
