Our Assessment: This Austrian STG-58 pattern rifle is a modern semi-automatic build assembled by Enterprise Arms using surplus Austrian FAL components. The original STG-58 rifles were produced by Steyr under FN license and are widely regarded as some of the highest quality FAL variants due to their precision manufacturing and durable construction. This example retains the classic 21 inch barrel configuration, bipod-equipped handguard, and adjustable gas system that defined the Austrian service rifle, while incorporating a Type 1 style receiver and a railed dust cover for modern optics mounting. This rifle is chambered in 7.62×51 NATO, the cartridge introduced in the 1950s as a standard service round for NATO forces and widely used in battle rifles across the Cold War. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, earning a rating of 9.75 out of 10. The rifle retains approximately 90 percent of its finish, with the receiver showing strong finish retention while the surplus kit components exhibit moderate thinning, wear, and patina consistent with prior service use. The Austrian furniture set shows handling wear but remains structurally sound, placing it in Good Plus condition overall.
This rifle includes one twenty-round metric pattern magazine in Excellent condition. The screw heads remain mostly sharp, the pins unmarred, and the markings are clear and legible. The overall configuration reflects a blend of surplus Austrian components and modern assembly, resulting in a rifle that maintains the character of the original STG-58 while incorporating updated features. Overall, this Enterprise-built STG-58 stands as a solid example of a FAL-pattern rifle with classic Cold War heritage and a battle-worn aesthetic. -R.E.
