The stocks have a few scattered minor marks with one more notable scratch in the left of the buttstock below the comb, one more notable nick in the right of the buttstock around the center, and a couple of more notable nicks in the belly toward the toe. The checkering is generally well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The drop at the front and rear of the comb is approximately 1 3/8?, drop at heel 2?. The cast is about neutral. The LOP measures 14 5/8? from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad, 13 5/8? to the back of the wood. Overall, the stocks are in about Fine condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Original to the parts, the barrel is not original to the receiver.
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 92% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges, most notable on the bottom-left of the receiver and forend iron. The barrels have infrequent minor wear, most notable at the front of and under the forend. There is some more defined wear in front of the forend which appears to be from the barrels’ original forend with light wear in front of that which is more consistent with handling. The bottom of the receiver has a cluster of tiny marks through the finish. The controls show handling wear and the action shows operational wear. The markings are clear. The sub-gauge tubes show normal light use-wear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good-Fine condition as not parts original.
Mechanics: The safety appears to have been disabled, we were not able to engage it. Otherwise, the action functions correctly including ejectors. The barrels lock to the receiver with no play. The trigger is crisp. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in a hard-sided black SKB case with locking latches (key included). The interior of the case has compartments for the stocked receiver assembly, forend, accessories, and barrel assembly on one side. The other side has storage for the sub-gauge tubes. Along with the additional chokes, a mallet, spare inertia block, one spare mainspring (left) and a tube of Perazzi lubricant. The case and accessories show light storage and use-wear.
Our Assessment: Perazzi sounds like a high end sports car, and in the gun world it is. They have long been a staple of just about any kind of shotgun sport you can name, famous for their craftsmanship, beauty and durability. As such, they command a high price, with some buyers going all the way to Italy to be measured in person so that their gun can be specially and exactly fit to them. That said, like a high-end sports car, it can be much more economical to buy used. This example has been set up as a Skeet gun, with an MX8 action and SC3 barrel set which has been threaded for Briley choke tubes. Included is a nice set of Briley sub-gauge tubes fit to the barrels, which allows the user to fire 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge and .410 from the same gun just by removing or inserting the tubes. This allows the use of all four Skeet gauges while having no variation in the gun’s fit to the shooter, so it may be the only gun you’ll ever need for Skeet. With its beautiful stocks and legendary Perazzi quality, this is a gun that will turn some heads and dust some clays. Please see our photos and good luck!
