Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its current metal finish. Due to the “Antiqued” finish, it is difficult to determine what is intentional and what isn’t, but it is quite consistent throughout. The sides of the hammer and the cylinder show light operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Fine-Excellent condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Cylinder lockup produces barely perceptible play on each chamber. The trigger is crisp. The cylinder has a removable bushing. The firing pin is conical and there is no window in the loading gate at the hinge, indicative of US-made parts. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a two-piece cardboard box with serial-matching fired-case envelope, a black cloth pouch and a trigger lock.
Our Assessment: Colt’s Model 1873, the Single Action Army, is the “gun that won the west”, perhaps the most iconic handgun of all time. For nearly 150 years, the gun has been produced in a variety of configurations, finishes and calibers. This revolver is the absolute closest to a Colt you can get without a pony on the side. This USFA Rodeo had a matte blue finish which has been “Antiqued”, giving it an old-time appearance. The revolver has a 4 3/4″ barrel and is chambered for the classic .45 Colt cartridge. It is in Fine-Excellent condition, appearing to have seen limited use since it was refinished. This revolver will make a great addition to any collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
