The action shows fairly light operational wear. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good condition.

Our Assessment: The Parker Brothers VH Grade, also known as the Grade 0, was introduced in 1899 as Parker’s entry-level hammerless double. Despite its position at the bottom of the Parker grade structure, the VH retained the same basic quality of fitting and action work that helped establish Parker’s reputation among American sportsmen, with simpler styling, plainer walnut, and Vulcan Steel barrels distinguishing it from the higher grades. Serial number 229783 falls within the 1928 production range, making this matching-numbered 16 Gauge a late Meriden-era Parker built shortly before the company’s acquisition by Remington.
