Our Assessment: Remington introduced the Model 700 in 1962, and its round receiver, recessed bolt face and cone breech made it one of the most copied and widely used bolt actions in America. The BDL has long been the classic dress version of the line, with glossy walnut, a Monte Carlo cheekpiece, black forend cap and hinged floorplate. Remington paired it here with the .300 Remington Ultra Magnum, a beltless, rebated rim cartridge introduced in 1999 and derived from the .404 Jeffery case. It is built to push heavy .30 caliber bullets at long range and suits elk, moose and other large game at distance.

This 2013 Ilion-marked example retains about 97% of its original blue, the bore rates 9.5/10, the bolt serial matches the receiver, and the walnut is free of chips and cracks. With its 26″ barrel and factory iron sights it is ready for a scope and a serious hunting season. Please see our photos and good luck on your bids! – L.S.
