The stock shows light wear, with minor handling wear present, along with sanding marks. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. A definitive conclusion cannot be determined if this stock has been refinished, or if it is simply a homemade stock. Overall, the stock rates in Good to Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with light scratches and dings throughout the metal surfaces. There is light surface corrosion and minor pitting on the barrel, forward of the forend. The bolt shows moderate operational wear. The bolt handle has developed a plum-colored patina. The finish is otherwise largely intact. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are tooled, but serviceable. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 has long been a popular foundation for custom sporting rifles due to its strong action, straightforward design, and extensive aftermarket support. This example has been rebuilt into an unusual .250 Savage hunting rifle with a 22″ aftermarket barrel and non-original checkered wood stock. The .250 Savage is a classic early high-velocity sporting cartridge known for mild recoil and useful performance on deer and similar medium game, giving this custom Model 700 a distinctly traditional chambering despite its more modern action. A Redfield Revolution 2-7×33 scope with Accu-Range reticle completes the hunting-oriented configuration.
This rifle is in Good to Very Good condition overall, retaining about 85% of the metal finish present on the current build with scattered light scratches and dings, light surface corrosion and minor pitting on the exposed portion of the barrel forward of the forend, and moderate operational wear on the bolt. The bolt handle has developed a plum-colored patina. The non-original checkered wood stock also rates in Good to Very Good condition with minor handling wear and visible sanding marks, though it cannot be determined whether the stock has been refinished or is a custom-made stock. There are no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10, while the action and safety function correctly. The included Redfield Revolution 2-7×33 scope has clear glass and rates in Very Good condition. Please see our photos for a better understanding of the condition and good luck with your bids! – J.D.
