Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with light finish wear on the sight hood, and light scratches on the front sight ramp. There are a few minor dings and superficial imperfections on the barrel. Otherwise, the finish is intact. There are light operational marks on the bolt. The markings and engravings are clear and legible. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope and magazine as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Browning BAR High Power is one of the most classic sporting autoloaders, combining Belgian manufacture with a gas-operated action, detachable magazine, and refined walnut furniture. This 1969 example is chambered in .30-06 Springfield and features factory game-scene engraving with an elk on the left side of the receiver and a pronghorn on the right. The 22″ barrel, factory iron sights, and period-correct Redfield 2-7x Accu-Range scope give the rifle a very traditional big-game hunting configuration.
This rifle is in Good to Very Good condition overall, retaining about 95% of its original blue finish with light wear on the sight hood, scratches on the front sight ramp, a few minor dings and superficial imperfections on the barrel, and light operational marks on the bolt. The checkered walnut stocks rate in Good condition due primarily to considerable crazing in the gloss finish on the buttstock, along with scattered scratches, dings, and compressions, though there are no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and light fouling, rating 9.5/10, while the action and safety function correctly. The included Redfield 2-7x Accu-Range scope has clear glass and remains in Excellent condition, and the rifle also includes a Very Good condition factory 4-round magazine.
