Our Assessment: The Thompson Model 1927 A3 was Auto-Ordnance’s rimfire adaptation of the iconic Thompson pattern, giving shooters the unmistakable profile and handling characteristics of the famous carbine in economical .22 LR. These rifles retain many of the visual cues associated with the Thompson, including the finned barrel, distinctive receiver profile, detachable buttstock, pistol grip, and vertical foregrip, making them an especially interesting variation for a Thompson-focused collection.

This example presents very well, retaining the great majority of its original finish with an excellent three-piece hardwood furniture set and a strong, bright bore. The fitted case, stick magazine, drum magazine, and detachable furniture make this a particularly appealing package. A Model 1927 A3 in this configuration offers both considerable display appeal and an unusual rimfire entry into the Thompson collecting field. Please see our photos and good luck with your bid!-C.M.
