Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1892 was designed by John Moses Browning as a smaller, lighter companion to his Model 1886 action, optimized for Winchester’s shorter pistol-caliber cartridges. Introduced in 1892, the design quickly earned a reputation for strength, smooth operation, and excellent handling. Chambered in .32 WCF, this early 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine represents the compact, utilitarian configuration for which the Model 1892 became especially well known.

This example has seen substantial use during its more than 130 years, with its original blue finish now worn away to an aged patina and scattered pitting visible throughout the metal. The refinished stocks remain solid and present in Very Good condition, while the gray bore retains well-defined rifling. The saddle ring, folding ladder rear sight, early-style Winchester markings, and Antique production date give the rifle considerable period character. The action continues to function correctly, making this a well-used but appealing early Winchester carbine for the collector of Browning-designed lever actions or Old West-era firearms. Please see our photos for a better understanding of the condition and good luck with your bids!-C.M.
